I’m on YouTube!

I briefly star in this YouTube gem, about an idiot at my school rocketing himself in the nuts. I’m the kid in the dark shirt and glasses who walks in front of the camera at the end.

A Small Triumph

I did something pretty cool quite a  while ago, and I thought I should share it with you now. On Friday, October 12th, 2007, I completed the Tribune Crossword in the Detroit Free Press. This was the first crossword I had ever completed.

Yeah, it’s pretty lame. But I don’t care.

Well there goes my filing system…

With the discovery of the 1-November-1983 ad, my entire system of cross-referencing the MDM anouncements goes out the window. None of the cross-references will now point to the right place. I’ve made a quick fix by denoting all references created today and after with the letter N, as in (N1a), so I will know when it comes time for revision which need to be fixed and which do not.

Also, the Wildcat Code website isn’t anywhere near being done.

Esoteric Tree

So apparently Esoteric Tree isn’t “directly connected” with Neurocam/Yellow-1. Or that’s what our new commentator says. It could be a deliberate misdirection. On the other hand, I could be overly paranoid. (At least tell me I got the Tree of Life reference right…)
Anyway, when I e-mailed the admin of the site in question, I was responded to in a quatrain in (mostly) iambic trimeter. The first three lines consisted of six sylables each, while the fouth was seven; the first two words of that line can be combined to maintain the rythm. (Total sylables: 25). I was also presented with a link to esoterictree.com, but the index page was changed. It must have been activated by me following the link. I was then directed from that page to a page with a flash movie of waves breaking on a beach (the subject matter of the poem). Soothing as it is, I can’t for the life of me figure out what’s going on. There appear to be footprints on the beach, and some sort of plant close to the camera on the right side.

“Stream” seems to have become a fan of this site, as he or someone who shares his IP address has visited this site daily of late (1 visit per diem for three days). He also uses Mozilla.

The greatest question to come out of this, though, is how he found this blog in the first place. I tried googling Neurocam, Nautonier, Yellow-1, etc, and my site didn’t come in very high in the results at all.

Feel free to ignore the below

After a bit more talking, everything was resolved. Not exactly to my satisfaction, but that isn’t what’s important, exactly.

So it turns out…

…that the girl I wrote ubout under has no romantic feelings toward the given friend. She also has none toward me. She has it for a guy she goes to college with, a guy she described as a manwhore and “an asshole” to everyone except her, because he wants to get in her pants. She said that guys like that were easier because breaking up was easy because she didn’t really like them in the first place. This is not the girl I fell in love with; that girl would never have advised me to be a quitter who intentionally set himself up for failure because it was easier than striving for actual happiness. I asked her to pick which relationship she was the happiest in, and it was the one where she picked the nice guy, the one she actually wanted, the one that just ended. I don’t know if I got through to her, I don’t know if I can. I just know that as her friend, I don’t want to see her go down a road like that.
