A Book!

I have decided to undertake a serious project. I will expand upon my senior project, writing a book that will delve into the May Day Mystery and bring the enigma to the general public. It will touch not only upon aspects of the Mystery but also upon those who took it upon themselves to solve the Mystery.

I’ve got a list of titles stocked up:

Raiders of SDB #668. (A play on Raiders of the Lost Ark.)
Bryan Hance and the Last Crusade. (A play on Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.)
The Wildcat Code. (Based on The DaVinici Code.)
Luther’s Pendulum. (Foucault’s Pendulum.)
Historical Madness. (The subtitle to the “official” May Day Mystery website.)
Methods of Madness: A Simplified Approach to the May Day Mystery. (Something  my friend Ryan suggested.)

This is going to be a huge project, and we all know how I am with projects…

I promise I will not fail you this time, though we all know how I am with promises…

Pi-ku

This is a Pi-ku I wrote in honor of Pi Day (today). I was supposed to read it at an assembly today, but my fear of speaking in front of crowds got the better of me. Mr. Heid read it in my stead. I got a few complements out of it, and one of the louder applauses.

The pie flies

high

in a circle

o’er

refrigerators

recently put out to pasture. It,

among

these majestic beasts, soars.

On four tiny feet

The machines,

hungry as they are,

persue the majestic baked good.

All who gazed upon the pie rejoiced.

Blogs

Filed under: Writing, The Chucksphere — admin0 @ 5:07 pm

Let me tell you a little bit about this post. Way back on the 17th of March in the year 2006, I anounced to my non-existent readership that I would be doing a post called “What’s the Deal with Blogs?” I envisioned it as a sort of article or essay where I could provide my view on a subject which was getting lots of coverage.

It ain’t gonna happen. I’m cleaning out the “Your Drafts” bar at the top of the Administration screen, and this has to go. Granted, now that I’ve semi-fulfilled this part of the prophecy, look for the Three Kingdoms wargame! (Don’t, actually. You’ll die of disappointment.)

A sonnet

I wrote an English (Shakespearian) sonnet for AP English today.

“Poetry is the worst thing in the world,
worse than war and death and pestilance stuff,
and plague, you can’t forget plague. When my curled
fingers move this pen, one word is enough,
I die a bit inside. You don’t know that, 5
I bet, but you do now, know that I like
writing poetry less than wearing a hat.
The preceeding sentence made no sense, like
things David occasionally says. One
day I won’t have to write poetry any- 10
more, but that day is not soon. Mister Donnne,
the poet, must have had problems many.
I am done with this poem, hooray! hooray!
I feel as happy as Robert Goulet!”

William Shakespeare can lick my ball sack. Speaking of him, I lost my Shakespeare virginity the other day in that class. Before that day, I had managed to go my entire life without reading one word of his work (except, of course, for some work on my senior project, but that doesn’t count.) The offending poem was Sonnet #?, which he blatently pagiarized from Elivs Costello.

Freedom, Sweet Sweet Freedom

All obligations have been completed. P&P is due in 12 days, more than enough time. No major projects except for those that are self-inflicted.

To Work!

Also, Republican candidate Mike Huckabee spoke in Owosso today. Too bad it wasn’t a candidate I wanted to hear.

Playing With Nothing

Filed under: Writing, The Chucksphere — admin0 @ 8:06 pm

So, I was reading this article over at Ryan Holiday’s website, when I came across the list of things that matter. I realized that I don’t meet a single one of those criteria:

[*] Smart, intelligent people do not read by work. I read my work. I’m deathly afraid of anybody reading it, so nobody knows about this. Simple as that. Can’t even say for certain why I’m writing this now.

[*] I get email from spammers. (Where “spammers” include all institutions of higher education in North America and Dennis Kucinich.)

[*]  OH, OH, I do write about non-tech things! But still, 0 readers.

[*] Wow, I also have sucess and interests outside of the internet. That’s the only place I do have sucess.

[*] Flying under the radar? Check.

[*] Yes, people take my suggestions, but not from here.

[*] I hate looking back on what I’ve written. I can’t stand to be in the same room as somebody else who’s reading my work, even if they do so silently.

Oh, 2/3 of blogs have only one RSS subscriber. Me? Zero.

In short, I’m killing this. All of this. If Dress-Stephen doesn’t take off (or even get completed, which it probably won’t), I’m not paying my server bill and damn it all.

Clutter

Filed under: Uncategorized, Reading, Romance, Writing, The Chucksphere — admin0 @ 11:10 am

Sometime last week, my mother got all over me about the amount of clothes I have in my closet. I have no idea why this is, as it is she who buys all that shit. Regardless, I cleaned the shit out and I’m happier for it.

As I was going about the rest of my day, I decided it would be a good idea to start filling out college applications. It was determined that I would apply to colleges in order of likelihood of rejection, so I opened up the app that the folks at Harvard College were so kind to send me. As I was scanning the completed first page, I noticed an instruction at the top: “Type or write in black ink only.” Guess what colour pen I was using? Unless you thought something stupid like “A yellow gel pen,” you have a 50/50 chance of getting this right. Further hint: it wasn’t red. Being so fucked (”so” not being used as a discription of degree, but rather in it’s meaning as “truthfully”), I printed off copies of all 4 apps I needed to fill out. When this was completed, I was too weary to fill any of them out, so I determined to put them away. The desk being home to much in the the way of junk, I had to add it to the smaller, less mature dross-heap on my bedside table, where it can be overshadowed by the Mountain of Yet-to-be-read Books.
I realized that I have too much clutter in my life, and it would help me immensely if I tidied everything up for this last year in High School. Come, embark with me on my journey into clarity, efficiancy, and order (by clicking “More”).

Today’s Activity Report

Filed under: Uncategorized, Writing, The Chucksphere — admin0 @ 5:43 pm

I set aside today as a personal project day. Let’s take a look at what I intended to do today, what I did, and what I futilly hope to accomplish before “The Closer” comes on tonight.

  1. Hang the Bull Horns: Check, and Beautiful.
  2. Write in my journal about how I’m probably in love with a friend/a friend’s girlfriend: Check.
  3. Work on my Senior Project: Check
  4. Write the “About Me” section for my Info Page/my MySpace: Working on it
  5. Write the “Who I’d Like to Meet” section on my MySpace: Working on it
  6. Finish “Insecticide”: Laughable
  7. Write the Retroactively Second Fisherman Article: Possible, ties in with Item #5
  8. Start again on the guitar: Doubtful

So I’m 3 for 8, though I could do as well as 7/8 if I stop typing this and get my ass into gear.
